Based in Devon, Dartmoor Zoo is a charity that’s been well established in the area for decades – famed on the hit movie ‘We bought a Zoo’, staring Matt Damon. As a charity, the zoo is recognised for all of the great work it does in conservation, in the local area through education and as a fantastic place to work and volunteer.

As a zoo that’s been around for some time, it found its digital infrastructure lacking, and so went to tender for support with security, technology and connectivity. This story is the story of how much impact and support a BTLB, or BT Local Business, can provide to businesses up and down the country.

BT and its BTLB partner helped the zoo with a number of digital and connectivity services, keeping staff connected, and the zoos connectivity up – so that animals, staff and visitors are always safe and secure. The film highlights how Microsoft Teams Phone Mobile keeps teams connected via secure messaging and chat, security monitors and interactive cameras always connected to help safeguard the welfare of the animals and visitors and the impact that BTLBs can provide to companies who are looking for that ‘face-to-face’ partner.

This film, captured over a day and a half was pitched as a unique and different way to tell case study stories for BT. It was cut for social first, with interesting and whimsical musical tracks, graphics and wholesome moments that makes this film feel less corporate and just that little bit more fun than usual.

With all access to staff and animals, from feeding tigers and tapiers, to lunch with capybaras and cheetahs, we captured a slice of life film that features fun, informal moments of personality and humour, more akin to a docu style capture of the case study. A huge hit with BT internally, and externally as BT’s biggest case study of its kind in 2024. My role included, concept, presentation, stake-holder management, script and narrative, film and photography pre and post production, filming with the crew, direction and photography.
